How to counter air rushes in Beyond All Reason

Anti-air in BAR has quirks that frustrate players new to the game. Multiple AA turrets sometimes focus their fire on the same target while ignoring the rest. Here is how to handle air threats that overwhelm your defenses.

The AA focusing problem explained

Players notice that AA turrets pile missile volleys into a single aircraft instead of spreading fire across a wave. Twenty missiles hit one scout while two thousand more slip through. This is not a bug. It is a targeting behavior built into BAR's auto-aim system.

The AA targeting prioritizes the highest-threat or closest unit it detects. When many AA structures share targeting data through the ally network, they can converge on one target. That leaves the rest of the wave untouched.

Manual targeting beats auto-focus

Override auto-aim. Select your AA turrets manually and assign them specific targets. Spread your attention across multiple incoming aircraft instead of letting the AI decide. You will intercept far more planes this way.

Position AA structures apart from each other. Tightly clumped AA covers a smaller combined area and gets overwhelmed faster. Spaced AA creates overlapping but staggered fields of fire that hit more targets per second.

Build layered defenses

T2 AA carries splash damage that AA from the Legion faction does not. That splash matters against tight air formations. Mix T1 AA for volume with T2 AA for area denial. The combination covers weaknesses each tier has alone.

Do not forget static defenses matter too. Flak towers work well against slow bombers. Laser towers track fast scouts. Use both types and cover gaps with mobile AA units.

Offense defends against air

The best counter to air pressure is building your own air. Even a few interceptors force enemy pilots to split their attention. Air-versus-air fights drain the attacker faster than ground-to-air fights drain the defender. Air production costs scale better when you invest early.

Creed of champions

Air defense is a team job. Share your AA coverage with your allies and ask for theirs. Creed of Champions runs games built on coordinated defense and positive communication. No blaming teammates for air losses, just fixing the gaps together.
