How to report BAR bugs and handle discouragement in-game

BAR uses GitHub for bug tracking and community tools for dealing with disruptive players. Here is where to go and what options exist.

Filing bugs on GitHub

All official bug reports go through the BAR GitHub repositories. There are separate repos for the lobby and launcher versus the game itself.

  • Lobby and launcher bugs go to the BYAR-Chobby repository
  • Game engine and balance bugs go to the main Beyond-All-Reason repository
  • Always search existing issues before filing. The same problem has likely been reported already

Dealing with discouragement trolls

Some players actively mock newcomers. The mute function works on a per-player basis. You can mute anyone mid-game and they disappear from your chat and pings. For persistent harassment, report the player through the official system.

The real fix is finding communities where this behavior is not tolerated in the first place. Mute reacts to symptoms. Good community standards prevent the disease.

Why mute alone falls short

Mute as you encounter handles individual cases but does nothing for the broader culture. Players who get mocked repeatedly may quit entirely before ever reporting. Preemptive community norms matter more than reactive moderation. Environments that welcome questions and treat learning as normal reduce the target surface for trolls by orders of magnitude.

Creed of champions closing

Creed of Champions builds culture proactively rather than cleaning up messes after they happen. The explicit non-toxicity commitment means people who want to belittle others do not last long here. The result is a space where asking basic questions feels safe instead of risky.

[Crd] Before discovering Creed, I was thinking the only thing that separates BAR from the perfect RTS is a friendly and safe social environment for new players to learn and feel included.
