Common BAR Troubleshooting Fixes That Actually Work

Connection drops, missing UI features, and vanished buildings can all throw off a game. Here is what the community knows about sorting the most frequent issues.

Connection drops after reinstalling

You reinstall BAR, restart your machine, and the problem follows. Before digging into game files, check the network itself. Players in Australia have repeatedly hit a network routing issue where traffic between regions degrades regardless of what the client does. If your network changed recently a new router, a different ISP, or you started using a VPN that is likely the culprit. Reset your local network stack and disable any VPN to test bare connectivity. This saves hours of reinstalling the same game.

Run a quick route trace to the game server and look for unusual hops or packet loss mid-pathway. When the problem sits upstream of your connection, no local reinstall will fix it. Patience is the real tool here. Regional routing problems tend to resolve on their own as network providers adjust peering arrangements.

Smart select not working the way you want

Smart select covers box selection and unit group selection across the interface. If it does not feel right, the box select settings are adjustable in the options menu. You can change what the selection box prioritizes and how it handles overlapping units.

There is a reason the default smart select does not let you fine-tune every behavior. Community members frequently request changes, but players disagree about what should be included or excluded from selection groups. Hard-coding a single "best" behavior would frustrate half the player base. The approach of keeping defaults broad and letting players adjust locally handles the diversity of play styles better.

Air repair platform replacement

The air repair platform does not exist as a dedicated structure in the current build. It was planned for a Tech 2 or Epic version alongside bot and tank variants. Players looking for the same effect can get it done with two resource bots placed at their base. Set both to repeat and area repair, and they handle incoming damaged air units effectively.

Position the bots near your landing zones so damaged aircraft reach them quickly. The area repair order covers a radius, so overlapping the two bots gives you solid coverage around your air facilities. It is not as flashy as a dedicated platform, but it works without needing extra buildings or tech prerequisites.

When things still break

Most recurring issues trace back to three areas: network routing, outdated widget configs, and corrupted game cache. Check each in order. Network first, because nothing else matters if packets are not getting through. Widgets second, since they break often after updates and are easy to reset. Cache last, because it is the most expensive fix even though reinstalling feels like the obvious first step.

Posting in BAR support channels with your network trace, recent widget changes, or the specific error message gets you answers faster than vague descriptions. The community is generally helpful when given enough details to actually diagnose the problem.

Playing smarter together

Solving these quirks is easier when you have teammates who walk through the same fixes without the blame. Communities that value clear communication and patience turn troubleshooting from a solo headache into a quick group effort. That matters when you would rather be playing than debugging.

One of the few places where you can for sure coordinate with people in matches with a good supportive attitude. Everybody tends to be understanding and constructive. [Crd]
