BAR Keybinds, Control Groups, and Hotkey Setup
Knowing every hotkey and setting up control groups properly makes the difference between reactive and proactive play.
Finding the complete keybind list
BAR ships with keybinds documented in three places. The in-game Keys menu shows the basics. The BAR website has a reference page. The full list lives in the GitHub repository under luaui config hotkeys. The GitHub version is always more complete than the in-game display. Check it if you want every possible binding.
Auto-control groups
Alt plus number keys one through nine lets you set up automatic unit grouping. Assign your assault units to group four, artillery to five, support units to six. Reserve groups one through three for raiding squads you build manually during a match. When you hold Ctrl while selecting units, they break away from the auto group without breaking your permanent setup.
Strong players like LostDeadman pre-fill every group slot for every faction with auto-fill rules. That level of organization takes practice but pays off immediately in mid-game coordination.
Checking your play hours
Type the command dollar sign whoami into the in-game coordinator chat. The bot responds with a link to your profile page where you can see detailed hour statistics. This works more reliably than the surface-level chev display.
Finding replays from better players
Head to the BAR leaderboards to find top-rated players, then search their names on the replay site. Watch their first five minutes repeatedly until you understand their opening patterns. The replay site occasionally shows stale data, so check both the website and local demo files if a search comes up empty.
Creed of Champions
Tight controls only matter if you have teammates who communicate clearly. Creed of Champions runs coordinated team games where control group discipline and shot calling make the difference.
[Crd] I love being able to communicate with my team, getting and sharing tips and constructive feedback on gameplay, and having a good spirited community.
Better teammates. Better games.
