Shared commander play and downloading all BAR maps at once
Two practical setup questions new Beyond All Reason players ask: can you play shared economy mode like StarCraft archon, and how do you grab every map in one download.
Shared commander and archon-style play
Beyond All Reason previously allowed shared commander mode where multiple players control the same base, share metal, energy, and unit production. This was disabled after players found ways to abuse and cheat the system. The roadmap mentions a potential return, which means the developers are working on ways to re-enable it safely.
If you want to play shared economy now, your best option is a private match with trusted friends. Set up a lobby with shared teams enabled. Public matchmaking does not offer this mode because of the historical abuse issues. The community wants it back. The question is only when the anti-cheat systems are robust enough to support it in open play.
Downloading maps in bulk
BAR maps can be downloaded in bulk from community-hosted folders. The main map collection lives in a shared Google Drive folder maintained by the community. Players who want every map available for offline play use this as the one-stop source.
After downloading, maps go in your BAR maps directory. On Steam installations this is typically under your BAR installation folder in the maps subdirectory. Drop the files in, restart the game, and the new maps appear in lobby selections.
Where maps live on your system
Map files belong in the maps folder within your BAR installation. If you cannot find the right directory, check the BAR settings menu for the installation path. Custom maps and downloaded maps all load from the same location, so there is no separate folder to worry about.
Creed of Champions
Creed of Champions runs coordinated team sessions that make the most of maps and modes players want to test. Shared economy games require trust, and the community culture makes that trust easy to build.
[Crd] It is so easy to get on with everyone and there is zero toxicity. Just fun games of BAR which can have quite a toxic community usually.
